Hi,

Small question:

I'm currently updating a sketch from an assembly in NX drafting (via teamcenter, but I don't think that matters here).

With the update of the assembly, a piece was added. Now, I used the "hidden components" option on some of my views to hide some of the parts in the drawings (the assembly is being 'built up' over the course of several sheets).
Now that the new pieces have been added, I again have to hide them via the "hidden components" option. The problem here is that I can't seem to do this for section views.
When a section view is first created, it will only show the bodies that were in the original view, but when some bodies are being hidden in that view, the section won't update.

Only solution I see is to delete the section and remake it. Is there another way?

I just tested this using NX 7.5.5.1 (granted, this is the first phase of the next maintance release which has yet to be delivered) and I had NO problem, after a section view had already been created, to either hide newly added components from the section view or to update the sectiong view to include newly added components in the section operation. Note that after a component is hidden or added and you wish to see the updated section view, you will need to perform a...

Thanks for replying.

But how exactly do you go and hide components in your sectioned view. The option I used for the other views is not available for a section. (right click on the view in the part navigator -> edit -> hidden components)

I was actually hoping that there was a way to link a sectioned view to its parent, so that if I hide a component in the parent, it would also be hidden in the section.

I understand what you're saying, but it turns-out that there are TWO ways of doing this. The one you're frustrated with is where you select the view first and then attempt to use the 'Edit' option, which is not available if you had selected a Section View. The approach to take in that case is to go to...

Edit -> View -> Hide Components...

...and select the Component(s) first and then the View.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try it out next week.
Have a nice weekend!
