Hi,

Trying to find out the industry standards for residential and commercial drafting. Looking for the appropriate governing body (does it exist?) or a faq. Any help is appreciated

Thanks

KB,

Don't know about where you are, but in Australia, most firms agree to disagree on anything from pen size/colors, symbols used (although some industries have got this much right) through to sheet sizes. Even the road construction authorities have differing standards from state to state.

Good luck

shorttimr, If in the U.S. check the ANSI Drafting Standards. This will give you everything from sheet size, layout forms to symbols.

Hope this helps.

Because building codes change from county to county, there are no concrete drafting standards for building. There are some basic configurations that is used. Check your Engineering Drawing and Design books for building configurations. Hope this helps. John
