I used to have a command when I was using the free version of Draftsight that would copy and rotate a single entity. I have now started using DraftSight 2019 x64 SP3 paid version and my command doesn't work any more. Can someone help me. I would really like to be able to click an icon, pick multiple entities, pick a rotation point and rotate and copy them around that point. I used to have this command when I used AutoCAD years ago, but can't seem to find an equivalent in Draftsight.

Thanks,
GWB

I had this saved in my notes for DraftSight commands. It changes up the order of operation that you are used to, but it should do the trick.

Copy, place and rotate an object in one command.
COPY:
Basically if you copy an object normally it will pick the bottom left corner as the default insertion point.
If you use the "copy@" command then you can choose the insertion point which you want to rotate around later.
Here is where it gets tricky.
PASTE:
When you use the paste command it asks you to "Specify destination". If you type "rotate" (or "ro" for the
shortcut) as the destination point then it enters a secret mode and allows you to specify a rotation angle.
Voila!! Specify your angle and then place your object wherever you want it.
PS
I could only get this to work by typing out "rotate" or "ro". I never could get it to work by using a
shortcut key combo for rotate or by clicking on the rotate icon while the paste command was in progress.

Or you talking about the circular pattern feature?
It is under the modify toolbar and looks like a Sudoku board. Once the Pattern window pops up you have the option for a circular or linear pattern. From there you can pick the axis of rotation, select items to rotate, and choose the rotation angle or set up the spacing between items.

Those are all good suggestions, but not what I'm looking for. When I used to use Autocad I had an Icon created with the command that would allow me to pick multiple entities and rotate them the same as the normal rotate command. Then in Draftsight (free version) I found a similar command that would do the same thing but I could only pick one entity. The main use is that you can see the entities as you rotate them. I don't always know the angle I need rotate so it helps to see the entities as you rotate them. Anyone got any other ideas?

Eric,

It wasn't any specific command. it was an icon with a new command attached to it. the command was $M=$(IF,$(EQ,$(SUBSTR,$(GETVAR,GETACTCMD),1,4),GRIP),_COPY,^C^C_COPY);\;\;_ROTATE

This will allow me to select ONE entity only, then rotate it. The way it worked is click on the icon, select ONE entity, right click (enter), select the same entity again (which is the copy of the original entity that is sitting right on top of the original entity), right click (enter), select a pivot pint, then rotate the copy. It will leave the original where it was and produce a copy at some angle around the pivot point you have specified. So basically it is select entity, right click, select the same entity, right click, select a pivot point and rotate.

This worked in the free version of Draftsight but now it doesn't work in the paid version I am using. I'd really like to get it back if possible. I had a similar command in AutoCAD but it allowed me to select multiple entities to rotate instead of just one.

Ok guys. I'm reviving this thread. It seems that a few other people here at work are wanting the rotate&copy command. So, here is some info.

currently using Draftsight 2019, SP3. The command I used to use in the FREE version was $M=$(IF,$(EQ,$(SUBSTR,$(GETVAR,GETACTCMD),1,4),GRIP),_COPY,^C^C_COPY);\;\;_ROTATE however this command does not work for us in the version of Draftsight we are using. Can anyone help us figure this out?

Thanks,
Gary
