Hi

We make a lot of profiled sheet metal parts and I am trying to modify our drawing sheets. In the Drawing template I have added a separate blank sheet that will have a 1-1 unfolded profile of the sheet metal part so that we can easily create a dxf for CNC manufacture. We would rather have all the info in one drawing file rather than have 2.

The only issue is now that the drawing says sheet 1 of 2. Does anyone know of any way to modify the property link for the total number of sheets (with a formula etc) to display total number of sheets -1?

We are using Solidworks 2011 and will move to 2012 within the coming months.

Many Thanks

Dan

Do you really need the "of 2" portion? Just change the link to a sheet number?

SolidWorks will also automatically scale the views up to 1:1 when converting or saving out the DXF file. The second sheet with the full size profile might not be necessary. You can even right click the flat pattern feature in the part and save out the DXF from there. The second sheet thing just sounds like an AutoCad mindset.

Hi Dan

I would leave the "of 2" section out as well, as blimey said.

Good to see you are enjoying a couple of different SW challenges...
Funny to have come accross your entry.

I believe SW2008 was the first version to allow you to export a DXF directly from the model file. You may not need that second sheet at all.

To answer your question directly, there is no way to have SW ignore the second sheet in the "total sheets" formula

Pretty good with SolidWorks

Dan,

Another thing to mention is that SolidWorks does not allow you to add Equations to a Drawing File as you can in a Part or Assembly file with Tools > Equations.

If it were possible then you could write an equation to get what you want.

To remove the total sheets drawing item use Right Click Edit Sheet Format and delete that text on your SolidWorks Drawing templates A,B,C,D-Format.drwdot
