Hi
We are currently reviewing our drawing filing system, and i am wondering whether anyone can offer some suggestions on how we can use SE management more effectively.....if you can then please read on.
We produce large assemblies which we get manufactured by various overseas suppliers, often we are required to send out drawing packs of all drawings in a particular assembly (currently in printed & DWG format).
The problem we have is that we keep all printed drawings together in the same assembly folder for easy photocopying to be sent out quickly. As you maybe aware we can never guarantee 100% that a printed drawing is up to date when kept in this way. We also keep DWG equivalents on the computer system (parts may be used in other assemblies and not put into all relevant folders for instance).
A more fool proof way would be to keep all drawings filed in numerical order, however this would make it very time consuming to print a drawing pack of an assembly. I think we would ideally like some kind of system where we can batch print all drawings associated with a specific assembly, but not sure that is possible.
If anyone has any information on the Management software in SE that we may find useful that would be great.
Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy post
