Dry Cast Concrete 2

I work for a Precast Concrete Company. We currently use wet cast concrete, and I would like to know more about Dry Cast Concrete. Pros/Cons anything relevant.

I have not heard of Dry Cast Concrete, unless the term refers to the mix that is used for making 'cement bricks' also known as 'concrete masonary units' or 'concrete blocks'. The mix used for these is not dry. It contains enough moisture for a sort of fruit cake consistency so that the blocks can be carefully demoulded immediately after compaction. They must then be cured in damp conditions.

Dry cast or extruded concrete for precast plank is being used by a local precast firm. Their system is based on a patented process from Finland (I believe). I do know that they deal a lot with LaFarge Cememt Co. and I think if you go to their website and/or talk to their Technical Services Department, you should find a lot of useful information.

Also try the Prestress Concrete Institute (PCI) and Portland Cement Assocication (PCA).
