dry gas seals contamination? 1

We have a compressor that compresses an associated gas (gas separated from oil). But although all the filtration we always have contamination of the dry gas seals by oil.

What are the possible causes of this contamination knowing that the filtration is by the standards?

Why always the failure happens on the gas seal of the output side?

Check for separation gas. If there is not any separation gas then the oil leak to the seal and the outboard seal will be failed.

Also you should determine if the contamination is actually lube oil from your bearing housing. You may have liquids drop out on primary seal causing secondary seal to fail. Have you done a gas analysis to see if there is potential of liquids drop out? What is the condition of the primary seal? Are you using labyrinth seals or carbon seals as separation seals?
