Hey everyone,

I keep hearing that within a dry sprinkler system water needs to be delivered to the inspector test valve within 60 seconds. However, I cannot seem to find this referenced in NFPA 13 or NFPA 2. I see some 60 seconds references within NFPA for combined dry and preaction systems but I cannot find any time requirement for just a dry system.

Can someone point me to a reference? Or explain where the 60 seconds comes from?

Thanks,

See 8.2.3 of NFPA 13 ed.19

Thanks! Urgh, I was actually missing those pages in my digital copy and I didn't notice.

There are some variables, such as system size, and use of quick opening device
