Ductile Iron. Effect of Boron 1

All, I read that Boron over .002% will promote carbides in ductile iron. I have struggled online and I can't seem to find the scientific source of this number.
I want to understand the mechanism of carbide formation.

Any ideas?

From literature it is known that Boron is a carbide stabilizer. It increases the undercooling during solidification,thereby promoting carbide formation instead of graphite.

You may find some answer to your question from the reference below. It has been many years and I need to refresh,perhaps you can find in papers published by J.F Wallace,it was published in Trans AFS.
