Do you guy know how to convert solidworks files in to dumb files. Essencially a dumb files is file that cannot be section, measured, and modify. I need to convert an assembly, and some componets.

All models files can be "sectioned, measured, and modified" if you have the right software. The only way around this would be to send an image file (jpeg, gif, etc).

You can remove your feature info if you save your files as parasolids or some other neutral file format.

There are many options under "File Type" when you save the file such as IGES, STEP, Parasolid, etc. However, what the end user can do with the "dumb" solid will depend entirely on what software it is loaded into. Most CAD packages can measure, but not modify, "dumb" solids.

What about an eDrawings file? Those can still be sectioned, but they can't be modified or measured.

I save the files as IGES, STEP, and Parasolid, but I can still measure the model. I want my customer to not be able to measure my solid. By the way when I save a file as STL I cannot section it, or measure it, thats what I'm looking for but the only problem is that I cannot save an assembly as STP only components. Also, what is a STP file?

Save the assy as a part file. Then open the part file and save as a .stp file.

I save the ASSM as a part file, when I try to saved as STL it say "geometry invalid." But when I save an ASSM as Part file it does not let me section and measure the moded. That what I want, I think it changes the features to surfaces. Thanks, now is there a way from my costumer to change the assembly save as a part back to and assembly or be able to measured. I hope not.

Why do you need to give them cad geometry if you don't want them to be able to do anything with it? It sounds like you should follow handlemans suggestion. Save as easm and uncheck all the options (the ability to export as stl and the ability to measure the files). Edrawings is essentially like low resolution .stl polygon files. This tool is the perfect tool for what you are looking to do.

but with edrawings they can still section my model.

In that case, why not publish it on 3D instant website?

You can not change the part back to the assy file.
When you save as a part, select the box "Exterior faces".
The 3D instant website will be good.
