Duration of a hydro test (hydraulic test)

Dear colleagues,

I have recently seen a procedure for hydro test of atmospheric vats saying that they need to be filled with water and then remain filled for 24 hours.

In my case the vessel is 90 m3 316L vessel. The vessel was designed according to AD2000 and has a design pressure of 50 mbarg.
Could someone advise on the required time for the hydro test, 24 hour seems a very long time to me.

My experience with pipes has always been to keep the lines pressurized for 60 minutes. Again this was a procedure. Could someone also confirm the required time for pipework pressure test?

The duration of the hydro test for the equipment type or piping should be based on the requirement by the applicable Codes or the Client Spec.
There were cases of atmospheric tank which was tested for 24 hours.
