dwg/dxf to abaqus

I have a 2d model of a femur that I have drawn in AutoCAD, I wish to run some analysis on this in abaqus, is there anyway in which I can export a dwg/dxf file into abaqus as a single part, then define my material etc and run the analysis.

Make sure that the model is in the position you want it in (orientation, etc.), remove all excess layers and words, title blocks then save the CAD file as a dxf.

when you start your abaqus model import the sketch(es).

create a new part then just add the sketch you imported.

I managed to import the drawing but the geometry in abaqus represents nothing like what I drew in autoCAD.. :[

I have found some arcs to be not as smooth as I would like and some times the fillet feature in CAD will leave edges you need to trim in Abaqus, but not so many problems that you couldn't clean up the sketch a little and work from there. I usually save my files as a 2010 dxf.

Yeah it's not just some arcs that aren't smooth the whole femur is non-existent in abaqus attatched an image for other users to see the difference between autocad/abaqus any help is appreciated as my knowledge of abaqus is minimal.

Try saving the file in a different format and importing that, such as iges.
