I received an email from a vendor with a .dwg file attached (272 KB) that I requested. If I double click the attachment in the email and select "Open", Teamcenter Visulaization Mockup 2007 loads and the 2D data appears and looks exactly like what I requested.

So I go thru the same double click of the attachment in the email and this time select "Save", and I give it a name and it saves.

Now with NX4 open I import the .dwg file into an empty part file and only a few of the lines and some text import. I check to be sure all layers are selectable and everything is unblanked, but only a small portion of what was in the Teamcenter Visualization view has imported.

Can anyone help me solve this problem? There was a second and third attachment in that email and they imported correctly and their file sizes were similar.

Thanks in adavance,
Gary

Imageshack is a blocked site here at work so I will have to view your results at home this evening. It is supposed to be line data depicting a circuit breaker and 3 overall dimensions. The Teamcenter Vis Mockup showed everything just as I needed. I need the 3D wireframe that is in the .dwg file so I can create a 3D solid model to be used in my assembly.

The part is an Allen Bradley 140U-H3C3-C30A Circuit Breaker.

After doing some more checking, I am getting an "Invalid Dwg Version" when attempting this AutoCAD to UG translation.

Any clues on what may be wrong?

In one of the file viewers I have access to (SolidWorks eDrawings 2010) it appears that there is a solid body in the .dwg file. Perhaps the .dwg you are trying to import comes from a newer format than your translator can handle.

You need to have the dwg file saved in a prior dwg version. Look in the options for dxf/dwg import for NX 4 and you will see that it can probably only do AutoCAD 2004 or earlier. Unlike for 3D data, with 2D autocad files you can easily save them in previous dwg format (if you have Autocad). If you don't have it available I would ask the vendor to send it to you in a dwg version that NX can open.
