In most dynamic system monitor(DSM) equipment, there are the channels for DC voltages and DC currents. What are the DC measurements actually used for? Sorry, i must admit I have no knowledge at all in this area. Hope some of you can kindly help me.
What is the most common number of channels used in a substation? Is it 32 channels? Let's say we have 3-channel units connected to the 3-phase CT and VT signals. So, there will be 10 channels for AC/DC voltage and currents. So how many channels we actually need for AC and DC measurements respectively? What about the remaining two channels (32 - 30 = 2), what is that for? Also, in some monitoring equipment, I noticed that they label 2*32 channels? What does that mean? Sorry, i'm a recent graduate and have not seen a system monitoring equipment before. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
