Hello folks.

It's been a while since I have visited this forum.
I have a question about Engineering BOM's
We (Company I work for) Is just now starting to use the Design and Engineering BOM in Siemens Teamcenter.
In our opinion (we might completely misunderstand this) it should be possible to have the Position numbers from the E-Bom on the Drawing of the assembly. (by opening the E-Bom in NX)
Until now I haven't been able to do this. And Siemens states that this is not a valid use case.

Are we completely misunderstanding this use case? Is it really true that other companies are not showing the E-Bom information on Drawings?

Thanks in advance

Ronald.

In the TC Structure manager the position numbers used to be called "Callout" but are in the version we run called "Sequence number"
these numbers are/ should be synched to NX ( "Callout" attribute in NX )and available for use in the NX parts list.
- I have seen no option to do "auto ballooning" without an existing parts list in NX. ( - when the BOM exists in TC)
we have a department who creates a Parts list in NX but places it outside the sheet to be able to auto-number the balloons on the sheets.

Tomas

Hi Tomas

Thanks for you answer. I realize there is no option to auto balloon without having a parts list on the drawing.
Placing the partlist outside the drawing frame (if you don't want that on the drawing) is the only solution for that.

But I think you misunderstood my question. I want to open the E-bom in NX and then use that for the part list and auto ballooning.
The NX design is based on the Design Bom, with its sequence numbers. The E-BOM Sequence numbers can be different compared to the Design BOM.
So I want to have those E-BOM sequence numbers on the final drawing, and not the ones from the Design BOM.

I tend to avoid parts lists myself, but I believe you can add a column to it, put a number in each cell, and then sort by that column. It's not very intuitive. You have to put the numbers where you want them manually. It's been a while and I don't remember why I needed to do it, but I think that was my workaround.
