We are a supplier of new and used low voltage (415v)generators.
During factory testing before despatch, how should the gensets be earthed ? My main concern is operator safety.
Most of the gensets don't have earth leakage protection.
The neutral is connected to the main earth terminal in the generator terminal box.

Suggestion: It would be prudent to start the generator tests with high-resistance system grounding since one fault at the generator load would be tolerated, monitored, fault location determined. If only the solidly grounded neutral system grounding is applied, a ground fault current or arcing can cause more extensive damages than the generator the high-resistance system grounding, for example.

In addition to earthing/grounding, do not overlook bonding of exposed conductive surfaces to limit potential difference and consequent shock hazard, and facilitate operation of overcurrent devices.
