hi

HOW I GET S1 IF MY place is not in USA

AS PER IBC 2003 we will founnd that

Step 1: Determine the mapped maximum considered
earthquake spectral response acceleration at
short periods, SS, and at 1-second period, S1,
for the site location from Code Figures 1615(1)
through 1615(10).

but that map is useless for me so what can i do?

thanks

Check with seismic study/research groups to find if there is data collected for the region under consideration.

The USGS has produced design data for the US an its territories. If you are outside of these regions, perhaps the IBC is not the governing code.

As Dr. Ghosh points out "there is nothing international about the International Building Code".

thanks for your reply but in ubc 97 you can all information for any countray

for example iam form saudi arbian ,ubc 97 consider us zone 2A

Engineering principles have no boundaries, but preferences.
However, material properties and geological conditions varies from rigion to region, you need to collect those data locally to be practical and safe.
