Hi

Are there free software available which would enable me to download my ECU map via my OBDII port using a Rosstech VAG cable?

Hi,

If there was anything than VAG, I would have probably said : NO, but for VAG there might be. VAG protocols are like LINUX (more available and published) comparing to other cars that could be like windows ;)

I would like to know if you have found any. Please update us as well if you find one.

Cheers

You can live in your car, but you can't drive your House!

The OBDII DATA may be aquired (downloaded) but the actual MAPS (fuel, ingition, etc.) can't be, I don't think.
That data is stored in the memory chips inside the ECU.
SOmetimes they are called "MemCal" chips.
MemCal is "memory calibration" and must be read directly from the chips.
I believe some of the values may be modified and written back to the memory via ODBII interface.
Not sure the complete calibration data is available via OBDII but..I sould be wrong. I'm more familiar with OBDI which provides a datastream but not the fuel, ignition, etc. maps themselves.
