Based on our (mis)understanding of Section IX when we completed WPQ's in the past we only listed the P No. for the actual test performed as our qualified range. It is now apparent that the P No. used for the test (P8) will qualify us for P1 to P15F per QW 423. I am fairly confident that my understanding of this is correct. I am unsure of how to edit the qualification range on a WPQ that has already been completed and signed by my Weld Trainer and 3rd party testing lab. Any thoughts?

Simply fill in the qualification range, initial & date the correction.

You are not changing anything, you simply left out information.

And show your Procedure revision level as going from -0- to -1-.

Kiwi2671,

My 2010 Edition of Section IX, QW-423.1 reads P1 to P15F. Not sure about yours...

Thanks for the info everybody...

My apologies James,
Looking at ASME IX 2007,

Kiwi

Hi James,
Your welder will also be covered for P34 & P41 through P49.
Best Regards,

While the base materials for which the welder is qualified may be as stated, the welder may not be able to weld those materials with the welding filler, F-Number qualified.
