good day folks,
I am exploring options for screening option for submersible type effluent pump station
daily flow 1500 m³/day
we have relative deep invert level on in -feed pipe
options

-manual incline bar screen [ not deemed feasible due to depth of in-feed]
-mechanical rake screen [ maintenance & capex intensive
-basket screen with guide & hoist

currently considering basket screen 40mm bar spacing in guide rail and electric hoist
what is your past experiences with basket screen for this application or other suggestions?

thks in advance

What is effluent, treated of untreated sewage, industrial waste?

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

untreated domestic effluent from urban development
the concern is trash like rocks and stone that could landed in the sewer system

Basket screens are ok, but must be designed for max. flow under partial blocked conditions and restrict solids well below the pumps capability.
Screen cleaning is also a major problem as you will be screening all sorts of nasty materials other than sewage - rag, rope, ssnitary items, kids toys, tennis balls etc.
Not really my field,so hopefully you will further advice - - plus your local sewage authority should be able to help.

The selection of influent screens depends on the type of treatment plant that you have. In the States, where we have extensive wastewater treatment processes, the state of the art is probably 1/4-inch (6 mm) openings. Without this type of screening, you will end of with debris throughout the treatment plant.
