EIT looking for reference material

Greetings- I'm a recent civil engineer graduate with 10 yrs of various experience with an AST manufacturer / erector. I'm now serving as an engineer in training (EIT). I'm using API 650, AISC Steel Const Manual, ASCE 7, and a book title Above Ground Storage Tanks authored by Meyers as my learning tools - as well as my mentor. Can anyone lead me towards additional resources that will provide confidence in tank design? I wish I could find examples of load distribution for structurally supported roofs, examples of beam analysis for roof rafters and girders, columns, shell stiffening, seismic design, etc...

If you are speaking of pressure vessels and/or tanks with fluids, I think you already have one of the best references.

If you are talking about bulk solids, there are others that you need. Not being at the office I don't have the name, but you could google Gaylord & Gaylord.

I suggest that you also pursue the design of pressure vessels and not limit yourself to flat bottomed tanks.

Many, many good books available out there regarding pressure vessel design.

Additionally, I would review those design rules related to bulk storage. Silos, bins hoppers etc....

You employer probably also will take in work dealing with AWWA tanks.

AWWA -D100 and D103 are good places to start.

Where do you want to go and what do you want to be doing in a couple of years ???

Very good point. I found two texts: Pressure Vessel Handbook by Megyesy, and Process Equipment Design / Vessel Design by Brownell. I will also look into bulk storage as you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions!
My goal for the next few years is to become proficient at design, I intend to earn my PE, and then take over the company (just kidding... sort of).
