Hello,

Is it allowed by standard to weld two 45 degrees elbows to get a 90 degrees elbow? and whether the fabricated elbow can withstand pressure and temperature?

Thanks,

Yes it's allowed, or rather isn't prohibited. You might not have the same dimensions as a single 90 elbow and it will look a little bit odd, but if that's all you have then OK.

Why can't you just buy a 90 elbow??

Did someone over order 45o elbows?

Good Luck,

'Cause then you'd have to cut it in half.

It does look like 2 x 45 is the same dimensions as 1 x 90...

Is this a suggestion from a welder? They get paid by the weld. It's almost always less expensive to purchase the "right" fitting.

They are the same dims but slightly different shape. It will work but look funky.

"Funky pipework" eh?

Just think what your manager / plant manager is going to say.

"Funky" isn't the word that will be used I think....

Thanks all for your contribution.

The case that we have excess stock of 45 Elbows and I thought of using them instead remaining on the shelves.

'dogs-hash' is more like it.

Keep them on the shelf or sell them on ebay.
