Looking for help here. Currently working on a project and have been through the ICC for about the last hour, I'm looking to install an electric emergency generator, when it comes to exhaust ventilation am I able to dump that exhaust into the parking garage? Or does it have to be vented to the outside?

Please help out if you can

Suggest that you contact the sales department for the specific DG and ask questions. Also ask the local fire protection authority about any local laws and statutes

Every exhaust system I have seen has been routed to the outdoodrs ..

IMHO, this exhaust problem has never been given the respect it deserves.

The primary considerations for locating a DG in a building complex are ability to refuel, connecting to load, exhaust routing and ability to perform maintenance

You may think it's just another engine but the volume of exhaust and heat coming out of an engine running at full power is substantially more than than an engine idling about. The ventilation isn't likely rated to handle such a concentration of load.

How big a generator?

But unless it was minute, No is the answer.

Also if the power has gone then probably the ventilation has as well.
