I have an old Crompton Parkinson electric motor and need some info on this please, it states on the motor info plate that its 0.166 HP - 930 RPM - PH 3 - 380/440V - 0.55 AMPS now heres the strange bit, on the same motor plate a bit futher down it states 0.95 amps - 220/250v am correct in thinking this can be wired for single phase 240v, the terminals on the block on the back of the motor has various letters on it A-B-C and N
any help on this please.

It can be wired in Wye (the higher voltage) or it can be wired in Delta (the lower voltage). It depends on what your grid is. Same speed, same power both in Wye and in Delta.
Do not try single phase if you are not very sure about what you are doing (needs a capacitor and will not deliver full power).

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Thanks for the information, i only have 240v single phase supply so it looks like im going to have to get a new motor then

Note that the power ratings that you gave, 0.166hp at 930rpm, appears to be a 50hz rating. For 60hz, the equivalent rating would be 0.2hp at about 1115rpm.

An alternative is purchase a VFD that will accept a single phase input while providing a three phase output. This may or may not be a cost effective alternative to purchasing a single phase motor but would be necessary if the single phase motor will not fit in place of the three phase motor.

Nameplate details sound like this is a British motor. As it is small power and six pole I think a single phase replacement is going to be tricky to find. A VFD of sufficient size to run this would likely cost under £100 on ebay.
