Hi,

Question for Catia Electrical Harness designers:
- What is the difference between using Multi-Branchable Document and Bundle Segment?
When should be used one when the other?
When should they be combined?

Thanks a lot!

Airbus made it easy because usage of bundle segment is completely forbidden :)
I think the icons explains exactly the differences.
The multi branchable can contain one ore more bundle segments and with bundle segment only one could be made.
If I'm not mistakes it is not possible to split a bundle segment but it is possible for multibranchable.

In your top example, you could add as much branchable you would need.
In second example you have the bundle segment as one Product.

My recommendation would be just to forget about bundle segment :)

"Bundle segment" was the only function available in earlier releases of CATIA V5, to keep compatibility it's still there, then at some point they introduced "Multi-branchable document" which is now the prefered function. Like iscariot said you can just forget about bundle segment.

Automotive Catia Electrical Harness Design Workbenches - Usage

I am involved since January 2017 in Catia Electrical Harness design ( I had no prior experience in this area before January 2017).
So far, I haven't use other workbenches except Electrical Harness Assembly (#3) and Electrical Harness Installation(#4).
Am I missing something? How about the other 3 workbenches?:
1) Electrical Part Design
2) Electrical Assembly design
3) Electrical Harness Wire Routing

When should they be used, why they were not required in all the assignments that I was asked for so far?
I am a little bit confuse......

1. EAD - to create assembly between electrical parts. Let's say you have a plug and a socket, you could connect them together using electrical properties.
2. EPD - to create electrified part. For example the connectors that you are probably using from a library, are electrified with EPD.
You cannot properly link bundles to not electrified parts.

Above two only to be used only if you are creating the library with connectors for example.

5. EWR - it is possible to define individual wires between connectors.
I'm using it only for checking of the network, if all connected properly to connectors.
Using a local tool, it is used to compute bundle diameter based on diameter for each individual wire.
6. EHF - it should be clear, it is used to flatten the bundle for manufacturing

99% I'm using only EHA and EHI but I'm interested only in the mechanical part of a bundle :)
