Dear All,

Do you have any experience using an electric motor with a Horn type connection gland in Zone 1? I got a electrical motor from manufacturer that provides specifications with Horn connection and specified in the nameplate Ex d type and ATEX and IECEx Certified for the connection. I use Armour Cable, can this horn type gland be used for armoured cable in zone 1?

This is the appearance of the Horn Connection that I described above.

Frankly, I doubt the above specifications, as physically it is not convincing because I don't see any seals in the gland.

My experience usually uses Ex d or Ex e type Gland with double compression Gland type which has double seal (IP seal and Gas Seal).

This is the general gland that i usually use

If you have the similar experience, can you share whether it can be suitable and safe to be used in Hazardous Area Zone 1 or 2 with the armoured cable installation.

Thank you
