Electrical Porcelain - Glaze Pinhole Problems

Our factory produces porcelain products for the electrical industry. We changed our blue-grey glaze formula from a barium based glaze to a strontium carbonate formula. We have been having a serious problem with pinholes in the glazed surface. Does anyone have any suggestions, or just some information on the phenomena of pinholing?<br>

Dear mlyn,

Barium and strontium are in the same family but I suspect the strontium carbonate is decomposing differently than barium carbonate. I would check the TGA of both, and in addition verify cleaniness of your surfaces. Then change the firing profile based on TGA curves.
