Any recommendations on beginners practical electronics training in the UK?

Analog, digital, power electonics, fault finding, ect...

Dont mind travelling or paying for something worthwhile, but ideally Scotland.

Watch Big Clive on YouTube for a start. He shows items, shows the components, shows the schematic, and then explains how each bit works, usually on items from some place called Pound Land, though he does items from China as well. A full background and huge back catalog of topics and items. Perhaps you've heard of Isle of Man? That's where he lives.

For fault finding, South Main Auto on youtube. It's just cars, but the guy does a terrific job of explaining how diagnosis should be done, and includes what happens when there are multiple possible problems. He had one recently where power was being drawn with the key off, about 6 Watts, killing the battery if left overnight. He was faced with a case where it all went through one fuse and then, per the schematic seemingly to every single part of the car and more than a dozen items that each went to more items. In this one case he "cheated" but he even explained why going to an online service where one finds hints should be used. He points out that he gets cars in from other mechanics who used the list, marched down the "possible" items and replaced them all - the problem remained. Because none of them checked to see if the item they were replacing was actually broken.

You might also look at MIT OpenCourseware - for example, or some other university of your choice. They will cover more of the math and theory. I wish before my electrical courses I'd had Big Clive on YouTube.
