A Company is seriously interested in finding a manufacturer of mobile equipment for electroslag welding. Required previous experience with field welding of tyres (rotating tracks) for rotary kilns employed in cement manufacturing.

Any ideas where to look for?

Suggestions welcomed.

I can't remember the name on any of many electroslag welding setups that I've seen used in tank fabrication and the ship yard. The power supplies were from various makers but the actual welding heads looked cobbled together from SAW components except for the shoe.

A cursory search only turned up one source for a welding head. This head works for both Electroslag and Electrogas welding.

Do you have any connections in the tank fabrication business that might be able to point you in the right direction.

Here is one tank company we use. All the other companies that built large tanks for us have gone out of business.

Here is a company that makes ESW machines for the bridge building industry. Veraslag is a trade name for the machines made by Arcmatic. They should be able to help you as it seems their equipment is modular.

Here are numerous articles on ESW.

You are not going to find someone who makes electroslag equipment who happens to have experience with concrete production equipment. Just buy the equipment from a reliable manufacturer; it is YOUR job to figure out how to do the weld right for your particular application.
