Hello

I’m designing a vessel currently to EN 13445. I’m using PV Elite software for the calculations. The calculation runs fine with no errors, however when I delve into the calculations I see a warning “WARNING: Nozzle or Reinforcement Pad is outside Spherical D Limit !”
I’m not sure if this is a real problem and should I proceed with this design?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check wether your reinforcement overlaps a weld.
If so, try to avoid that.

Your diameter limit extends beyond the knuckle portion of your spherical head, therefore the nozzle opening and reinforcement are outside of the spherical head portion. You can probable modify the diameter limit on the program in the nozzle dialog.

I would suggest that you contact the PV Elite technical support department if you have further questions.

Some codes do not recommend to use nozzles outside of 0.8* OD of the vessels by using the rules only. That might be reason you have warning.
But you might try design by analysis (FEA etc... )in case you need this kind of applications.

The width of the Reinforcement Pad is wide, decrease the width and thicken the Pad. For checking, do a manual calculation of nozzle calculation or FEA.
