EN36 - Not usually UTed? Really?

Materials

Point of interest more then anything - A materials supplier has claimed that it is general industry practise (in the UK) that EN36 is not usually ultrasonically inspected before it exits the mill. So the material stockist is holding and normally supplying material that is not UTed.
Is this true, if so why?
