enclosure for hazardous locations

My company sell products in Europe with ATEX certification( hazardous locations ). Now we want sell on US market and the standard are similar.
But I have a doubt in relation to enclosure, our Polycarbonate/ABS enclosure has ip 65, which is the match in the U.S. market?

And what minimum protection type for location Class I Division 2.

cause, our products are intrinsically safe, what really relevance of the type of protection? we have in Europe products approved to Class I zone 0 (US NEC Article 505)

If your products are intrinsically safe, the enclosure type does not matter as far as explosion prevention. Industrial establishments often specify both intrinsic safety and explosionproof enclosures to increase redundancy, but it's not required by code. Besides, your enclosure is plastic -- it won't contain an explosion.

The IP rating is the degree of protection against foreign objects, dust, and water. IP 65 is roughly the same as UL Type 4 or 4X, or Type 6 or 6P.

Check UL standard 50 or NEMA for more info.
