I've been looking all over for a push button that mounts mounts on an enclosure and operates a switch inside with a pushrod. The heck are these things called? I need to replace them on some old AB motor starters.[tt][/tt]

Those are generally called "operators". You pair them with "switch blocks". What you're describing where there is, I'm guessing, a metal cover with push button operators on the front and extensions that reach into the box to push on something are not how they do it anymore. The extended operators in these cases are usually proprietary and you'll have to get them from the original maker or stumble on them in ebay.

I think what you're looking for is called a "reset operator", here is a link to images,

I usually use these when I need them,
Siemens 51AAS Single Unit Overload Reset Operator, Reset Legend Plate, 7/8" Diameter Reset Pad, 10" Shaft, if I'm using it for something other than a reset function I just use a different legend plate.

Hope that helps, MikeL.

Yes, reset operator.
If it's for an older NEMA style starter in an enclosure or an MCC bucket, it's A-B part number 1493-N21, older numbers were N1, N2 or N3, but the N21 kind of replaced them all by having a snap-off shaft to change the length.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for. Mine is actually a start button but I can make any of these work.
