Hello,

we are developing a product, and i need to put the PCB + 12v PSU in a waterproof airtight enclosure.

The PCB generates virtually no heat, but the PSU does.

The power supply will either be:

Meanwell EPS-65-12 Meanwell EPS-120-12
the PSU's are approx. 100mm * 50 mm * 30 mm high.

I am hoping to be able to use an enclosure with the internal measures: 130 mm * 130 mm * 40 mm

the product will be not be used constantly.

normally, 10/15 minutes at a time. it is possible that it could be used for up to an hour.

any insight would be welcome.

thank-you

Air tightness is a non-trivial exercise; making it water-resistant might be slightly easier.

We once thought a box we were designing might become air tight because of the seals we designed for it and argued ad nauseum about whether we needed to have a relief valve or pressure bladder, but decided to proceed without. When we finally built it and pressurized it with dry nitrogen, it held pressure

for all of about 10 seconds.

The product we are working on will be placed in a location where there will be water sprays.
The neat thing about water sprays is that they will cool the internal air causing a drop in pressure at precisely the time you don't want to suck in all that moisture. We find the waterproof/airtight enclosures do a great job of keeping the water inside that eventually finds its way in.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about THAT one; we used to have a product that was particularly efficient at sucking evening dew into the interior, to the point that after some time we had inches of liquid water inside.

Recall all those early modular headlamps that could double as aquariums?

The only reliable system is to fill with oil and have a pressure control bladder.
