Hello there,
This is my first post on Eng-Tips so bare with me please.
I am trying to model a reinforced concrete frame with structural walls system and I encountered the following issue:
One side of the building contains two walls coupled by a coupling beam of 1.5 m height. After I inserted the Coupling Beam I then proceeded to change it's insertion point in order to get it in the right position with respect to the walls it connects. The Bottom of the beam is 0.6 m below the level of the slab so I assigned insertion point 2: Bottom center, Coordinate system: Global, End I and End J both -600 mm on Z, and set Transform Frame system to Yes (by unticking the option).
This is where it gets tricky... When I then go and set End Length Offsets to Auto, from connectivity with a rigid factor of 1 the columns bounding the coupling beams (the bulbs of the two walls) show a End Length Offset at end J of 1.5 m instead of 0.6 m as if the beam is inserted without offset...
Anyone was an idea why this happens?
I'm considering writing CSI with this issue but first wanted to check with you guys.
Could this be a bug with the 2013 version? When I try the same on an older version of ETABS (9.2) I have running in a virtual machine the End Length offsets on the columns in question are -0.6 which is what I'm trying to get this model to do for the 13.1.4 version...
Any idea/suggestion is welcomed!
