In endplate shear connection of a platform will change in vertical edge distance of endplate will have a great impact or change in bolt hole spacing of endplate will have a great impact please advice

I assume you're talking about a connection like the following. Very often, 3/4 in. bolts are used, and the top bolt edge distance is 1-1/4 in. to 1-1/2 in. from the top of the plate and the spacing is 3 in.

The top edge distance is already small enough so that tearout will usually control over bolt shear rupture and bearing, but you can't make it much smaller than 1-1/4 in. anyway.

The spacing can be reduced a little before tearout starts to control.

Sorry for not having a very solid answer. More details on the problem at hand might help.

The type of connection used is given below and the endplate bolt hole center to center spacing is 70 and the endplate length is 200 and min vertical edge distance is 35 which is not attained if we use 70 mm bolt hole spacing so i need some advice weather we can change the spacing or edge distance.

70+2*32 = 134... should fit, else you can reduce the 70 a tad. Min spacing for bolts is 2.7 x dia... maybe use 60 or 65? Using 19mm bolts.

we use 20mm bolts so the bolt holes will be 22mm for tolerance purpose. As per your advice we cannot reduce the edge distance we can only change the spacing by changing the bolt Dia right.

One cool thing about shear end plates is the ability to add more vertical rows of bolts. Just throwing that out there in case it's helpful.

It sounds like you're limited on vertical room, so you might consider putting all of the bolts in one horizontal row at mid-depth of the beam.

bolt spacing can be 54 min instead of 70. In these environs... 19 are less costly than 20 on a strength basis.

chandra, please put dimensions on your sketch. There looks to be plenty of room. And end distance is measured from the hole center, not the hole edge.
