Hi everyone

How much do we charge for steel shop drawings? the engineer only does the connection design. basically I want to know how we figure out how much the engineer who does the shop drawing should get paid. Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question but I do know where I might look for it. I lurk a Facebook group called Steel Detailers USA: Link. I see pricing discussed there quite a bit.

$3,000 for a small 4 story building. $20,000 for a large 8 story building.

Thanks. But milkshakelake Could you please be more specific? what do you mean by small or large. does it have something to do with the number of connections or number of drawings? a 8 story with the same floor plan would double the amount of connections of 4 stories. the cost is not proportional. and a lot of the connections for gravity loads would be the same regardless how many stories you have...
