If you are trying to solve for x then use [cntl}= for the equal sign. Then highlight the x and hit symbolics, variable, solve. It gives you a "2" if I typed your equation correctly.

Sry, but I still do not understand.

I have v14 installed.

I click new and then choose blank worksheet.

then i start to enter the equation, but when I hit = it comes with a fail, that says this variable is undefined and it higligt the x.

I have a danish keyboard, so when I hit (Ctrl) + (=)it makes a equal or less symbol.

what do I wrong ?

Type x=root(3x (4x-1)-4x(2x-3)-1-(5+2x(2x+3)),x). Then type x=

You have to make ann initial guess at x before this.

From your .jpg file, it looks like you left out a minus sign before the (5 and that you left out all of your multiplication operators (*).

You also need to type an equal sign (=) after the x to evaluate it as opposed to the colon :)) used to define x.

could you please write all what I have to write ?
