Error Launching Unigraphics NX 2

Hi,

After installing the WGM for Unigraphics NX 2, I was launching NX and it is throwing me the following error.

UG/Open initialization failed

Waiting for UG/Open execute license to become available

Does anyone has any idea what could be the problem. This is happening while launching the Unigraphics.

Sounds to me like NX is looking for a networked license for UG/Open and there either isn't one available. How do you have your license server set up? Is the license local, served or served and shared amongst other users?

In addition, what is WGM? You may wish to provide a fully worded example before using acronyms in the future....just so no one gets confused.

Hi Tim,

My apology for uisng acronyms for the same. WGM stands for Workgroup Manager for Unigraphics. This is installed in the Windchill PDM system so as to integrate both Windchill and Unigraphics NX system and the user can directly check-in and check-out files into the Windchill system.

Well the license is installed in a different machine and I have installed NX on my laptop using the network machine. I am able to launch NX if the Workgroup Manager is not configured but when I installed workgroup Manager it fails with this error.

Please help me.

Hi Ben,

I donot know how to configure the UG/Open license. Is this the same as the default FlexLm license setup.

Here is what I did after installing the UG on my laptop.

Start Menu->Unigraphics->FlexLm Tools->License Options
->ADVDES

Here are the components of the ADVDES Bundle:
assemblies,
dotnet_runtime,
drafting,
dxf_to_ug,
dxfdwg,
features_modeling,
free_from_modeling,
gateway,
iges,
nx_freedom_1,
nx_freedom_2,
pstudio_cons,
pv_updatagenerator,

ug_collaborate,

ug_smart_models,

And I was able to launch Unigraphics after these configurations.

Is there any other configuration that has to be done besides the FlexLm license.

Please help me out with this.

Hi Ben,

Do I need to configure UG/Open license separately on the machine. If so how do I do it.

Please let me know. This issue is in a high priority status. Need to be fixed so donot know how to get this going.

There should be another line in your license file for the UG/Open license.

Look at the license file on the server and see what it says about UG/Open. It may be locked to a node or something else.
