Hi,

Is it technically a bad option to go for SS EFW pipes for all sizes from 15NB and higher. I've referred few Pipe material Specifications where Seamless pipes are used upto 200NB and above 200NB they're generally EFW pipes. Is it possible to 100% radiograph small size EFW pipes for SS and ERW incase of CS?

IMO, it’s possible.
But it comes down to what the pipe types are available in the market and the ERW/EFW pipe qualities, how to deal with the fabrication inspection, what the total cost of the final product, etc.

Technically no, but its the practical aspects which dominate.

You did say Stainless Steel correct?
In that case ERW should never be considered.
The fusion is very poor, fine for non-containment uses but not real pipe.
Good quality of welded SS pipe or tube will perform every bit as well as seamless, with one exception.
You don't want to use welded SS in a creep limited application.
But otherwise, with the correct NDT the welded product is as good or better than seamless.

The cost to RT would far out weigh the cost of seamless. As far as SS, I would heed Eds advice...he's like the stainless Jesus around here...gospel.

Be sure of the suppliers'(stockists') manufacturers of the ERW CS pipe and of their skelp manufacturer so quality pipe will be assured. There are excellent manufacturers out there but some souces may not be so. Recommend periodic auditing of quality from suppiers.
