Hello all,

I am using C3D8RT elements for my simulation (modeling two-body abrasion with thermal effects i.e frictional heating and plastic heat dissipation). I checked my results for hourglassing and found that the artificial energy (ALLAE) is >1% of the internal energy (ALLIE) . What would you suggest me to do in order to reduce the effect of hourglassing, apart from mesh refinement? My model has 180,000 elements and is sufficiently fine, but still ALLAE is approx. 5% of ALLIE. How much will the results be affected if the artificial energy is 5% of internal energy?

Thanks
