Existing party wall and a new basement wall 1

Hello,
I have a existing party wall that was left free standing on both properties (owners can not agree and demolish it). I am not able to put the steel columns close enough to the property line as I would like. The party wall is 1'6" thick. I am thinking about saw cutting the existing wall so that I could step in the concrete pier and footing where the column is going to sit. I would then just pour the new basement wall right up against the old wall.
I am not sure if this is feasible or if the contractor would think I am crazy. I could not think of any other solution to this problem. I was looking to see if anyone else has a idea.
Thanks

Cover the existing wall with some bond breaker, (butcher paper) and start the construction at the paper. This wastes some 9" of the property but cannot be avoided without lawsuits and such.

Now that you have an option for the wall -

What about the existing footing (locations dimensions) for the wall and do you intend to use that?

Cut a vertical slot in the wall to place the column in.

Sit the column on the end of a ground beam that extends to the next row of columns (and half way under the wall). That way you can place the column at the end of the fooing and you dont use up space.

You then just need a drywall against the party wall.

Thank you for the suggestions. csd72, did you mean to extend to columns down to the footings in the cellar and eliminate the concrete piers? If so, could the steel columns butt up against the existing wall? I know that I can draw it and design it, but can the steel workers get the columns so close?
Thanks
