Dear All,

Based on GPSA for G/L and G/L/L separators, the velocity head at the gas outlet nozzle is typically limited to 4500-5400 Kg m/s2 in order to limit the channeling of the gas through the gas outlet internal. If the velocity head in downstream piping exceeds 30 m/s but is still within the NORSOK velocity head limits preventing erosion. In you opinion:
1- if the separator gas cap area is selected to fulfill the gas liquid separation requirements. what is the possible reason behind such limitation in velocity head other than gas channeling and vibration mechanical integrity issues on the gas outlet internals?
2- What could be the potential revamp measures to allow higher momentum in existing gas outlet nozzles than the above mentioned limits?

Thanks

Regards,
