Existing Steel Stud Identification

The attached photo that was sent to me. Can anyone identify this stud?
The stamp reads: WML 0538 50k ICBO ES4943P 16 GA J.M CP60

I believe 0538 refers to the thickness (this matches 16 gage which is noted further down the line)
50k is most likely 50 ksi steel
ICBO 4943P is the old ICBO# (I can't find this size in that report)
CP60 is probably the zinc coating


I don't know what WML or J.M stand for

It looks like a typical stud that conforms to ER 4943P (typical SSMA stud). If you measure the depth and the flange width, you should be able to determine the stud size with the SSMA Product Technical Information(ER 4943P) since you already know the thickness.
 
They just sent me a picture and aren't on site anymore. Normally I see a stud designation, but I don't recognize this one
 
Could 0538 designate 5-3/8" deep stud? Kind of an odd dimension, but very close to 5-1/2.
 
The metallic coating requirements for structural studs can be found within ASTM C955 Table 1. The table lists three coating designators CP40, CP60, and CP90 that permit coatings using any one of the four galvanizing types. ASTM C955 states that structural studs must have a minimum protective coating CP60. The CP60 designator requires G60 as the minimum zinc coating or A60, AZ50 or GF30, the equivalent of the other permitted coatings.

G60 means 0.60 total ounces of zinc per square foot, respectively, applied to both sides of the sheet metal.

0538 = 54 mil = 16 gage ?
 
Attached is a ER-4943P report with Western Metal Lath and Steel Framing Systems as a supplier. It seems to have been saved as Esreport0405.pdf. You might try calling Western Metal Lath and Steel Framing Systems, I think this is their phone number (951) 360-3500 (in Riverside CA).

The Western Metal Lath and Steel Framing address on the old ER is now a Clark Dietrich location. I am guessing that Western Metal merged with Clark to form Clark Western. And a year or two ago, Clark Western merged with Dietrich.
