I understand that the above organisation publishes standards for the placement of guides and supports. Is this a normally accepted authority? and, are there others?

Is there a publication that details the location of expansion joints, supports and guides for pipe supports? Piping is in the order of 10" diameter.

EJMA addresses the placement of anchors and guides as regards the proper application of EJ's, but I wouldn't call them the publisher of a standard on anchors per se.

EJMA has a publication - I think their current version is in its 9th Edition (or maybe that is the latest version I have) - that details the proper anchoring and guiding of flexible metal expansion joints.

If that is your issue, you should get all the help you need there. If it is pipe anchoring and guiding in general, you might have to go to something more broad and general.

Most major EJ manufacturers are either members of EJMA or adhere to its standards. They too have good tips based on EJMA guidelines in their technical sections of their websites.

The EJ Mfgr's who are EJMA members produce this information in the interest of the successful application of their products.

It's worth noting that EJMA is specific to metallic expansion joints. I didn't see a mention of material, so if you are looking for non-metallic joints you probably want to look at Fluid Sealing Association.

I'm looking at a bit of a problem, informally, and the installation is not stricty in compliance with the EJMA (I understand) and I was wondering about the authority (if they are one and the weight they carry). I was also looking at design information to see if my modelling and approach was correct. The original was designed using a program called Caesor (sp?), I think.

The supporting system seems to be reasonable, but I chasing down information on the installation of piping, expansion joints, supports, etc. (I tend to be a bit of an info junkie). Just a 'learning process'; I'm not 'playing' pipe designer.
