We are currently under contract for a project in which we would like to incorporate an epoxy coating, for protection of a wet well. The wet well itself will be precast and the epoxy coating, according to the specifications, should be applied 28 days after casting.

I am aware of the Sikagard 75 product, which provides a special epoxy/cement combination mortar to allow application of the protective lining. However, this product seems too costly for application, as someone would literally be in the manhole troweling this stuff.

Does anyone know a means of mitigating this circumstance, allowing for a more immediate application of the epoxy coating? Perhaps some sort of spray on material?

Regards

Tom

the typical method is to apply an underlayment (approximately 1/2 inch thick) and then an 1/8 inch thick epoxy coating. the underlayment is trowled or cast and then epoxy applied shortly after. Maybe you can apply the underlayment with a pneumatic gun similar to shotcrete, I have seen it allowed in the specs.

I've heard of manhole coatings being spray applied with a spinning wand.
