Experience with LIRA for cable assessment

Does anyone have experience with using LIRA (Line Impedance Resonance Analysis) for cable testing & has compared the results with TDR, VLF tan delta & partial discharge?

We are doing the latter & client wants a comparison. To my understanding, LIRA can detect physical damage to the cable but can it detect voids, contamination & electrical treeing?

Yes I have extensive experience with LIRA. LIRA effectively identifies changes in a cable's insulation for the entire length of the cable and connected accessories by sending a frequency modulated signal through the cable via a connection to one end of the cable. The LIRA identification includes voids, manufacturing defects and/or tolerances, electrical & water treeing, thermal, chemical, mechanical, radiation and other damages to the insulation. LIRA localizes the effected (or defected) area(s) that provides a location and magnitude of the damage. In addition, it provides an overall assessment of the cable like Tan Delta. We have done results comparisons of LIRA with the other cable testing tools. LIRA performs as advertised. If you would like to further discuss, please contact me.
