Hi guys,

A fairly simple question: I have about 20 Abaqus CAE models on my old desktop pc. Now I would like to transfer all these models to my newly purchased laptop. But I've noticed that with simply transferring only the .cae files, I am not able to open these models in Abaqus on my laptop.

So my question is: which other Abaqus files do I have to transfer as well? I found out that there are .abq, .dat, .inp, ipm, .mdl, .com, .msg, .pac, .prt, .res, .sel, .sim, .sta and .log files.

For your information: I don't want to transfer only the .inp file because these input files are messy and fragmented. I want the original, whole Abaqus file/model.

Thanks a lot.

I did not see .odb on your list. You will need this file to view your results, unless you plan on re-running the analysis on your laptop. In my opinion, you should transfer everything, you will never know when you'll need the other files. Also you may be running a newer version of Abaqus on your laptop, which may be why files are not opening correctly.

.osb files were not necessary. I re-ran all of the jobs.

It worked out fine with only the .cae and .jnl files.

Thanks IceBreakerSours!
