Hi guys,
Getting a new computer at work soon and and I was wondering if there is a way to export all settings in NX. I know you can export the customer defaults, but is there something that will export stuff such as your menu locations and things like that?

Thanks,
Chris

Well there are two items which might fall under this. First off, the content of menus and toolbars are stored in your customized 'Role' if you've created one. If so that is the file that you need to copy over to capture that information. You can find this file at...

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Unigraphics Solutions\<NX version>\roles

...and it will have a file extension of .mtx and be named whatever you called your 'Role'.

Now if you haven't created any customized or personal 'Role', but have only been depending on the system starting up every morning where you left it yesterday when you logged-off, then you will need to go to...

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Unigraphics Solutions\<NX version>

...where you will find a file named 'user.mtx'. This file contains the current content of your menus and toolbars which you see when you run a session of NX.

Now as for the screen settings themselves, such as layout and size as well as many of the system specific preferences in User Interface, Selection, etc. these settings are stored in the system registry.

Thanks John, does exporting customer defaults also export keyboard shortcuts or do I have to do that some other way?

Thanks everyone for your help. Just for future reference the location of the user.mtx file in XP is:
C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\"NX version"

The Local Settings folder may be hidden, so be careful of that.
