I have this problem randomly.

I go to export an assembly and sometimes it picks all the items and sometimes it won't let me select certain ones. It doesn't matter if they are fully loaded or not. One time I can pick the component and the next (and very same component) it will not select the items for export... no matter what format (stp, iges, etc).

Thanks
Keegan

This happened on NX5 however I am currently using NX6.0.3 with the same issues.

This also happens on other machines as well.

make sure that you have the model reference set not lightweight, facet or rep.

Also try changing you object selection criteria to all objects. It was a radio button in earlier vesions and I'm not at liberty to check for you as I write.

See that's what is weird... even if I tell it to export the "Entire Part" or even when I try selecting individual components ("Selected Objects") with the selection filter set to "No Selection Filter", I get the same thing. It only exports certain components of the assembly.

I've rebooted and things of that nature. Also, all the reference sets are there, etc.

Now, if I rebuild that entire assembly with the same components, it may select those objects BUT on the other hand it may not. I could start from new two times using the same methods and get different results.

The only thing I can think since it is not happening to anyone else other that people out our location is that we have a bad install but why would it also do it on NX5?

Keegan,

Okay I'm back at the desk, and it's File>Export>Part and under the Object Selection Scope tick "All Objects".

There must be a solution to be found for this one....

The truth is out there!

Thank you all for the help. I have tried all that you mention...

Check this out... It's getting worse.

I have a part currently open that has 4 of the exact same components from the exact same component file. Its actually a multiple add. Now here is the fun part, I can select two of the four objects.

Now if that "ain't" dumb I don't know what is.

Thanks guys!

If your just trying to export from an assembly to a single part file then try setting your selection filter to "Solid Body". Because with File>Export>Part you were never going to get an assembly structure anyhow, the result is always going to be a collection of geometry, (solids most likely, but sheets and other entities are equally possible).

I had GTAC stumped with this one... They even had to send it to the developers.

...thinking maybe they'll name this "bug" after me.

Alas...

Our NX development team has investigated PR Number XXXXXXX and determined that the software is working as designed. If you would like to discuss this further, please call GTAC at 1-800-955-0000 or 1-714-952-5444 and select the appropriate support group. If you wish, the representative will connect you with the appropriate development supervisor, Manoj Gupta.

The problem where Export is failing to manually select all solid bodies is working as designed. When exporting, the selection of objects having different Units is not allowed. Only objects having the same units as the displayed part can be selected.

A work-round is to change the units of all components to the same units as the displayed part assembly and then select all solid bodies during Export.

Sincerely,

The Global Technical Access Center Team
